چکیده

We have found that the generic name Paraseuratoides Moravec, Salgado-Maldonado et Aguilar-Aguilar, 2002 is a junior homonym to Paraseuratoides Wang, 1984. Therefore, a new name, Gibsonnema nom. n., is proposed to replace it (the new genus is named in honour of David I. Gibson, a wellknown English helminthologist). These two genera are monotypic, belonging to the seuratoid family Quimperiidae Gendre, 1928, and both their type species are parasitic in swamp-eels (Synbranchidae, Synbranchiformes). However, they are well separated morphologically. In contrast to Gibsonnema, the genus Paraseuratoides is characterised mainly by a toothless buccal cavity, a bulbously inflated anterior end of the oesophagus and the presence of caudal alae in the male.

Two new nematodes, Paraseuratoides ophisterni gen. et sp. n. (Seuratoidea: Quimperiidae) and Philometra ophisterni sp. n. (Dracunculoidea: Philometridae) are described based on specimens recovered from the intestine and mesentery, respectively, of the swamp-eel Ophisternon aenigmaticum Rosen et Greenwood (Synbranchiformes: Synbranchidae) from a canal of the Papaloapan River in Tlacotalpan, Stat...

A total of 8 helminth species were recorded in an examination of 43 tropical gar, Atractosteus tropicus Gill, collected at the Pantanos de Centla Biosphere Reserve, Tabasco, Mexico. The parasite species included 1 adult trematode, 3 metacercariae, 1 cestode, 1 adult nematode, and 2 nematode larvae. Six of these 8 species were rare, with low prevalence (< 17%) and abundance (< 1.0 helminths per ...

Structure of the cephalic end of Ascarophis mexicana (Nematoda: Cystidicolidae), as revealed by SEM.

Scanning electron microscopy of the cystidicolid nematode Ascarophis mexicana Moravec, Salgado-Maldonado et Vivas-Rodríguez, 1995 enabled the first detailed study of its cephalic structure. In contrast to most Ascarophis species, its pseudolabia are highly reduced and sublabia are unlobed and weakly developed. Similascarophis is considered a synonym of Ascarophis, to which two its species are t...

A new species of Paracapillaroides (Nematoda: Capillariidae) parasitizing Nemadactylus bergi (Perciformes: Latridae) from the Argentine Sea.

A new nematode species, Paracapillaroides acanthocotylus sp. n., is described from the marine fish Nemadactylus bergi (Norman) (Latridae, Perciformes) from waters off Mar del Plata, Argentina (38 degrees 08'S, 57 degrees 32'W) (prevalence 81.8%, mean intensity 12.4 +/- 10.3). The new species is readily distinguished from P. agonostomi Moravec, Salgado-Maldonado et Caspeta-Mandujano, 1999, the o...
